Time to Make Sure Your Web Page Forms Are Secure!

There has been significant chatter leading up to Google’s latest action to keep website visitors more aware of varying levels of webpage security. Now, a web page visitor sees a warning in the Google Chrome web browser for all pages that include unencrypted web forms.

Google issued an email to all website hosts this summer to inform them that, unless a page with a web form includes an SSL certificate of security (you’ll know, because the URL begins with HTTPS), they will label the page “Not Secure.” Pages that do not have encrypted information exchange for text input forms will have a URL that begins only with HTTP.

The types of forms Google looks to evaluate are forms with text input, such as contact forms and most other landing pages that request visitor information. It is paramount to gain your website visitors’ trust by securing their information once they submit it to you. Without an SSL certificate, your webpage forms and the information passed through them are vulnerable to hacking.

Ensure that your web form pages deal with encrypted information by choosing a website host that offers the SSL certificate capability, and then making sure that you use it – all that’s left to do is to switch from HTTP to HTTPS! That is something you’ll need your website administrator to implement.

Not only will making your webpages secure ensure the protection of you and your website visitors, but Google will also punish your organix search rank if you do not have an HTTPS page. That's right! Making this update has become important to your SEO strategy.
